Two New Gears of War 2 Documentaries

"When you blast something, you want to see lots of chunks" This quote - directly from the video above - is going to haunt me in my dreams for a very long time. In fact, I'm actually going to put a word of caution on both of these videos. Not because of the violence, but because if you don't want to know anything about the game, you might want to skip these two. They have tons of information regarding the new weapons and finishing moves you'll find in Gears 2. Second video after the jump.

A New Metal Gear Solid Game "Exists" (Update)

mgse Solid Snake’s story is finished, but that doesn’t mean Konami is going to seal the Metal Gear Solid franchise in an early grave. The first sign of a new Metal Gear Solid game comes from the Japanese Trademark database where Konami registered Metal Gear Existence with the boring image on the right. It’s made to be used with video games so it’s likely, very likely, the name of a future Metal Gear Solid game. Going by the title alone it sounds like we’re going to visit the existence - or origins of the Metal Gear Solid franchise. So, will this be another game starring Big Boss? Let the wild pre-Tokyo Game Show speculation begin!

Update: Konami also registered “Existence” alone, without a link back to Metal Gear Solid in the USPTO on August 11. “Guns of the Patriots”, Metal Gear Solid 4’s subtitle, was also registered separately.

Rumor - God Of War III slated for March 2, 2009 release?

GameStop has just listed the God Of War III release date as March 2, 2009. While retailer release dates are not usually a reliable source of information, God Of War I and II released in March of 2005 and 2007 respectively, and Chains Of Olympus for the PSP came out this past March. 3 God Of War titles all in March... suddenly March 2009 for God Of War III sounds a bit more believable.

Still, take this news with a grain of salt. Expect more on God Of War III this week following the E3 convention.

Keep em coming guys! Thanks a lot

SCEE Explains 2.40 Error, Sony Will Replace Bricked Machines

As you now know, Sony has presented us with firmware update 2.41, which is now free of any serious bugs and doesn't have the nasty capability of damaging systems like the original 2.40 update. However, even though we're good to go now, some are still wondering: what happened?

Well, according to an official statement issued to ThreeSpeech by SCEE, it seems Sony pinpointed the problem: the flaw in 2.40 "prevented a limited number of PS3s from activating properly after updating to version 2.40, when certain system administrative data were contained on the HDD." Obviously, this has been fixed with update 2.41...but that doesn't really help the users who can't even use their bricked system because of what 2.40 did. If it turned out that badly for you, you need to contact Sony's customer service, and they will replace your busted PS3. That's good news, yes? You may be without your system for a while, but at least you won't have to pay for their mistake, which is always a bonus. Lastly, SCEE did repeat the fact that if you downloaded 2.40 without any problems, everything is fine.

It appears you still have to download 2.41 (the system says it's "required," as it does with all firmware updates), but it won't really change anything. We did hear about an additional "Last Game Played" tab with 2.41 that shows you the date and time of the last game you played on your PS3, but that's about it. This should bring the complicated ongoing news story of firmware 2.40/2.41 to a close now: in-game XMB and trophy support is here, and there should be no further issues due to those significant additions.

Sexy sells!

Sex sells. We know it does. And when the target audience consists mostly of men it's a no-brainer that wrapping some rudely inviting breasts, a cute ass and a killer pair of pins around any game-related product is going to turn heads. Certainly it's guaranteed to get more attention than an unsexed alternative. A promo shoot for a racing car game without a near-naked maiden draped over the hood is just, well, a picture of a car. No matter the horsepower, it lacks aesthetic va-va-voom.

To continue our prestigious Week of Babes, we've gathered together some examples of hotties being used to promote a variety of game-related products. Whether it's a cheap shot of morally corrupt advertising or simply innocent appreciation of the female form is for you to decide. In the meantime, let your eyes linger over the fine selection of beauties nestling over the following pages.

If you feel inclined to indulge yourself further, a gentle persuasion in this direction will take you straight to the sexy.
